Kraft Energy

The Quadrix

Independent control of temperature and humidity with constant air circulation.

The Quadrix™ Accelerated Concrete Curing System, using Kraft Energy™ technology, is designed specifically for the curing of concrete pavers and blocks through the intelligent use of four specific system components - heat, circulation, moisture and carbon dioxide. The system may be incorporated to supply a single atmosphere cure or provide curing for multiple-chamber enclosures.

  1. Independent control of temperature and humidity throughout the curing chamber eliminates condensation.
  2. Through accurate humidity control, temperature control and air circulation, Quadrix improves product quality and appearance, while providing the lowest operating costs.
  3. And, Quadrix uses the carbon dioxide produced by a small vapor generator to reduce the appearance of efflorescence on the concrete surface.
  4. Using vapor instead of cold water “ultra-sonic” mist reduces operating costs and prevents dripping.

Benefits of Quadrix™
Quadrix uses four primary components to produce the best product – heat, circulation, moisture and carbon dioxide

Heat

  • Accelerates cement hydration
  • Provides higher early strength
  • Reduces curing duration
  • Operates on diesel, natural gas or propane for greater convenience

Kraft EnergyCirculation

  • Provides consistent temperatures throughout curing chamber without hot or cold spots
  • Promotes even colours and strengths
  • Maintains an even temperature of +/- 2°F or 1°C
  • Reduces operating costs

Moisture

  • Prevents premature moisture evaporation from semi-dry concrete products
  • Ensures maximum cement hydration
  • Promotes harder corners and edges
  • Controlled humidity eliminates condensation
  • Provides hot moist fog at over 98% efficiency without problems of a cold water misting or humidification system, such as clogged spray nozzles, cooling air temperature and puddles

Carbon dioxide

  • Reduces efflorescence by binding calcium hydroxide and forming calcium carbonate directly under the concrete surface

Applications of Quadrix™

Quadrix™ can be used in multiple-chamber enclosures or in a single-atmosphere curing enclosure.

In multiple-chamber enclosures, individual chambers are created using concrete block or insulated sandwich panel walls as divider walls. The chambers have one or more passages, and each chamber has its own door.

In single-atmosphere curing enclosure, a chamber with a passage is enclosed with concrete block or insulated sandwich panel walls. An automatic door is used for entry/exit of the transverse car. Temperature and humidity in the chamber are constantly maintained as a “single atmosphere” without heating up or cooling down – 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Features of Quadrix™

Heat Features

  • Controlled via a single temperature sensor, located in the circulation duct
  • Sizes from 60,000 Btu (20kW) to 2,000,000 Btu (600kW)
  • Insulated galvanized steel box frame construction prevents heat loss
  • Stainless steel heat exchanger for long life operation
  • Modulating burner for more accurate temperature control
  • Burner operates on diesel, natural or propane gas for greater convenience

Circulation Features

  • Sizes from 2,000m3/h (1,100ft3/h) to 50,000m3/h (28,000ft3/h)
  • Heavy-duty radial ventilator and motor provide excellent circulation
  • Frequency inverter-driven unit matches air supply with demand based upon the number of curing chambers
  • Circulation is constant – operating independent of the heating system
  • Fiberglass skin ducts filled with polyurethane insulation prevent heat loss, condensation and corrosion
  • Stainless steel motorized dampers with durable rubber seals provide controlled circulation of the hot, humid air

Moisture Features

  • Maintains the curing chamber at a relative humidity between 75 percent to 99 percent utilizing a vapor fog system and humidity sensors
  • When the relative humidity drops below the required level, a hot moist fog is introduced along the length of the chamber until humidity has risen to the desired level
  • The 90kW VaporMicro™ provides hot moist fog at over 98 percent efficiency without the problems of a cold water misting or humidification system such as clogged spray nozzles, cooling air temperatures, and puddles

Carbon Dioxide Features

  • Carbon dioxide is a by-product of the direct-fired vapor generator
  • Carbon dioxide is transported by the fog onto the concrete, where it is absorbed by the concrete under the surface
  • Carbon dioxide prevents efflorescence – a key benefit of the Quadrix™
